even the birds
spring.
i literally feel like i have been rebirthed, renewed and returned to my full glory as a member of the human race.
this weekend, my friends and i made a muddy trek up to some beautiful yurts in east canyon to spend a glorious night away from it all, and this afternoon, i’ve been researching pop-up camper vans, and dreaming of a life on the road. i’m ready to trade in desk life for summer dresses and songs with this guy.

I’ve been MIA for the last few weeks. We played a really fun show opening for Jason Isbell at The State Room, our favorite venue in Utah. Playing there was a really great experience, and Jason’s set reached into my soul and made my Southern roots tingle.  So good. (We’re headed back there to catch the Alabama Shakes tomorrow night. I might drown in this lady’s voice.)
Then came a black hole of sickness that is only worth mentioning once, followed by the January sunshine that is Sundance. Tim did a great write-up of the movies we saw here. I missed The Other Dream Team, but I happily replaced it with Liberal Arts, another Josh Radner *cough*dreamboat*cough* vehicle that did not disappoint.  If you haven’t already, check out HappyThankYouMorePlease.
I could pretend like life has been really exciting otherwise as well, but who am I kidding? It’s winter, and it’s cold. I’ve been wearing a lot of sweat pants, eating a lot of soup, reading some, and watching a whole lot of “How I Met Your Mother.”

Lover’s Leap - Hope & Tim Glenn
Film Production - Color Red Media

Admittedly, I wasn’t the happiest of campers on this shoot. It was freezing cold, up a remote canyon, outside of an old mining town in Ophir, Utah. I lost feeling in my fingers and toes. I ruined my dress and my shoes fighting rocks and brambles, but dang, I am so happy with how well it turned out!

We’re gearing up to open for Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit in a couple weeks, and we are pumped!

I hope y’all had a happy Christmas and/or Hanukah.  I’m turning 30 tomorrow, so our celebrations will continue into the new year.  Wishing you all love in it’s most sincere form.

saturday snowy hike to diamond fork hot springs with two of my favorites!

(and trip papa cody - also a favorite, but not pictured.)

more often than not, i am an old lady and would rather sit on the couch, in my sweats, with a glass of wine and a good book (or a good dateline special) than go out on a friday night.

we’re heading up to ogden tonight to hear this guy sang.

i have a feeling he’ll make it worth staying in my jeans for a few more hours.

in other news: happy friday

your hands can heal…your hands can bruise…

i got my hair cut by this lovely gentleman this morning. i recognized him by these tattoos that i’ve obsessed over for 6 months. i think we’re best friends now.

hopeandtim:

This is a collection of songs that were recorded over the course of a few days with Dan Clark at Green Street studios. With their perfections and imperfections, most of these songs are in their earliest and most naked forms, but we are so proud of them that we wanted to give you a listen. They’re totally free, so if you like it, share it.  That’s all we ask. :)

details about next week’s full-length release coming soon!

this month in live music:

this month promises good things for the glenn family ear drums.  we have at least one concert a week (including explosions in the sky, josh ritter, the decemberists, edward sharpe & co., topped off by amos lee opening for my morning jacket at red rocks!) before our week-long escape to mexico.  (i got my renewed passport in the mail last week, and the pangs of wanderlust have hit harder than ever.)

we’re still looking for jobs, still praying for clarity, still trucking on.
i’m so looking forward to this next month, and trying not to feel overwhelmed by the endless possibility that lies beyond.
