fun fact: i am one of only 4 cousins who do not live in texas, and there are a lot of us. we are a pretty tight knit group.
i’m gonna miss my family this christmas, but it was so good to be able to see everyone over thanksgiving. how many families discuss time travel and alternate dimensions? i’m so happy to be related to some of my favorite people on the planet.

final installment: the fish song
there were several original compositions on these recordings, but this was the song i always returned to. they say “write what you know,” and clearly, i knew animals…and that josh was taking a bath.
***though not captured in this clip, i was very frustrated that my mom didn’t know the guitar part to my masterpiece.
two ladies i really love became mommies this past weekend (and another mommy was made as i was writing this last night!), and my heart is bursting.
is it weird to say that the tighter our budget gets, the happier i feel? don’t get me wrong, i am praying for tim to get a crazy awesome job (and soon!), but my life is RICH.
ps: and even another friend got the go-ahead to pack her bags for korea to pick up her new baby girl! 4 friend-babes in a week.
eight-year-old hope longwell
i’m so happy to call so many of my family “friends.” i just spent 3 full days with my cousins, audrey and ashlee, who drove up from texas to visit tim and i. i only have one sibling (my “little” brother, josh) but i have always counted their family amongst my immediates: brothers and sisters from other misters.
we spent our long weekend taking long walks, having long talks, eating delicious local cuisine, and tim and i got to show off our neat little city’s character in it’s truest forms.
i think after having house guests, you’re always at least somewhat happy when you’re able to go back to the normal routine, but i am feeling that familiar sadness even stronger, wishing that my family and i were in closer proximity.
i love y’all.
my momma is the second beauty from the left.
i want to be her when i grow up.

why don’t i take more pictures?
this is probably the question i ask most after holidays, vacations, parties, and the like. i try to remind myself that i was too busy enjoying the moment, but i still regret the lack of pictorial memories.
we have had such a fun holiday season so far. my body decided to grace me with a christmas cold, but i have attacked that thing with a vengeance** and, other than sleeping through our christmas eve service, i haven’t missed a beat. tim and i had our first christmas morning in front of our very own tree, eating cinnamon rolls and drinking chai while watching ‘elf.’ stockings and presents were a hit (though, tim kicked my ass in the gift giving department: tea pot infuser, sexy apron and apple tv). we then headed over to the in-laws to hang out for the rest of the afternoon. yesterday, we made merry with friends at our annual fiddlerfest celebration (it probably entails everything you think it does). thankfully, today we have a relaxing day off to recoup before celebrations continue with my 29th (eek) birthday tomorrow.
i am so lucky to be surrounded by such fantastic friends and family.
happiness abounds.
